Currently, Sharon serves on the Board of Education of the Gloversville Enlarged School District and is secretary to the Glove Theater. In addition, she chairs the volunteer Committee and is a member of the production committee.
As a lifelong Gloversville resident, Sharon has a personal love for the Glove Theater. As a child she, like many of her classmates, spent hours enjoying movies at the Glove. In particular, she recalls free summer matinees that were sponsored by local businesses. With that fond memory, she was instrumental in bringing back the concept in 2023. In conjunction with the Gloversville Recreation Committee, Family Friendly Movies were shown at the Glove. Movies such as The Goonies, E.T: The Extra-terrestrial, and A League of Their Own were enjoyed free of charge to the community.
Her involvement with the Glove continued as in later years when her daughter, Jenna, had the opportunity to spend endless hours on the Glove stage in Productions such as Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, Music Man and countless other productions. In addition to the benefits of learning and growing in the arts and building confidence and friendships. Her daughter was the recipient of a scholarship from the Theatre which contributed to her degree in music education. It is Sharon’s hope that The Glove will once again be a place for young people to grow in love of the arts, that a scholarship will be available again and that the gem of downtown will once again be an economic catalyst for the area.
