The Musicians of Ma'alwyck — Concert Intime: Exploring the Legacy of the Zoellner Quartet
The Musicians of Ma'alwyck — Concert Intime: Exploring the Legacy of the Zoellner Quartet
Musicians of Ma’alwyck brings history to life with an unforgettable musical journey, reviving the legacy of the trailblazing Zoellner String Quartet. Take a step back in time to experience the music, stories, and adventures of this remarkable early 20th-century ensemble — a trip to the music of the time when The Glove Theatre first opened in 1914!
The quartet, composed of the Zoellner family members, toured actively throughout North America, presenting concerts in venues from New York’s Aeolian Hall and great performing stages of Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, and Los Angeles, to train depots and outdoor concerts. With Antoinette Zoellner as first violin—a rarity at the time—the quartet became a symbol of the women’s suffrage movement.
The quartet democratized classical music. Instead of limiting themselves to the exclusivity of concert halls, they performed in train stations, granges, and outdoor spaces. With Antoinette Zoellner as the quartet’s first violinist - a rarity at that time - was a groundbreaking figure. The quartet became a symbol of the women’s suffrage movement and gained recognition extending beyond music - they became cultural ambassadors, performing for figures like suffragist Avery Coonley Ward and disability rights advocate Helen Keller. Keller, who could feel their music through vibration, so enjoyed it that she invited them to spend two summers with her at her summer residence in Wrentham in 1915 and 16.
Through Helen Keller, the quartet met Lydia Avery Coonley Ward, an important suffragist and philanthropist, who split her time between her home in Chicago and her summer retreat in Wyoming, New York. In 1917, she invited the quartet to be in residence in Wyoming. The quartet spent more than two months there, performing for the summer school, giving weekly concerts in the Village Hall, and playing together on the grounds of her estate Hillside.
The Musicians of Ma’alwyck will recreate the musical programming of the Zoellners, which contained a substantial repertory of American composers of the time, as well as American premieres of new works by European composers. Stepping in for the Zoellners will be Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, violinist, and Founder & Artistic Director of Musicians of Ma’alwyck, MofM core member André Laurent O’Neil, cello; and guest artists Fritz Krakowski, violin; and Katrina Smith, viola.
Join Musicians of Ma’alwyck for Concert Intime and step back in time with the Zoellner String Quartet!
All ages welcome! Age 21+ to drink adult beverages.
Musicians of Ma'alwyck's and The Glove Theatre's programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Floydian Trip: New England's Premier Pink Floyd Experience
Floydian Trip — “Wish You Were Here” 50th Anniversary Tour!
We can’t wait!!! The Glove Theatre is so happy to welcome back Floydian Trip! They sold out the house last year and people are still talking about that show! This year they are coming back with an even bigger light show (and last year’s was AMAZING!!!)
Floydian Trip is New England's premier Pink Floyd Experience. More than a tribute group, Floydian Trip brings the sights, sounds, and spirit of Pink Floyd in an immersive evening that's definitely not just "another brick in the wall"!
Sight.
Pink Floyd quickly became known for their visuals and light shows. The band has said that they weren’t much to look at so they needed to present something else while performing live. Early on, they used oil and light projections to create a stunning visual. From Dark Side of The Moon on, Floyd began using films, more lighting, and effects to conjure the mood and emotion of the music they were writing and performing. Floydian Trip combines the best of the early Floyd years and later years to make each show a visually pleasing experience. Whether through projections, lasers, lights, or other effects, Floydian Trip creates a spectacular experience
Sound.
Floydian Trip aims to recreate some of the spectacular and moving live performances that Pink Floyd became known for in the 1970s and 1980s. This era is sometimes known as the “Roger Waters Years.” Floydian Trip recreates the sound in both the performance and tone of how Floyd would have been heard if you were seeing them live on stage during the Dark Side of the Moon Tour, Wish You Were Here Tour, In the Flesh (Pink Floyd) Tour, or The Wall Tour. Floydian Trip painstakingly recreates the classic Pink Floyd live experience. The band has poured over thousands of hours of official, unofficial, and bootleg audio and video of Pink Floyd between 1973 and 1981 in order to create the most authentic live Pink Floyd experience you can witness.

DEAD MAN’S WALTZ
The Glove Theatre looks forward to welcoming Dead Man’s Waltz!
Interweaving the classic songs and jams of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band, Dead Man's Waltz is an all-star collective from the Northeast festival scene. Dead Man's Waltz features top-notch musicianship and offers a refreshing twist to the music of three legendary and iconic bands. While staying true to the spirit of the music, the band members put their own dynamic spin on a vast catalog of beloved songs that are now part of the new American song book.
At its core, DMW is a celebration of the long standing tradition of crossover between The Dead, The Allmans and The Band, culminating with the legendary 1973 Summer Jam Music Festival in Watkin's Glenn, NY where the three bands performed together. DMW's arrangements are experiments, as they easily flow from the familiar to the obscure, moving from standards like "Jessica" into "Going Down The Road Feeling Bad" into "Don't Do It" or "Up On Cripple Creek" into "They Love Each Other" into "Midnight Rider". The band always keeps it fresh with new and unexpected arrangements and improvisations, while engaging fans in the free-spirited party and colorful, close-knit community surrounding their shows.
With 2 drummers, DMW's line-up mirrors those of both The Dead and The Allmans as well as later line-ups of The Band. Dead Man's Waltz features the all-star lineup of "Rev" Tor Krautter on guitar and vocals, Tom Major on drums, Parker McQueeney on keys and vocals, Wesley Childers on guitar and vocals, Jeff Prescott on drums and vocals, and Brian O'Connell on bass and vocals. Each hail from a unique musical background and adds their own personal style, influence and character to the mix (which is exactly what the music calls for).

Luke Pavlus Returns!
The 518 Concert Series welcomes Luke Pavlus back to The Glove. Luke is an incredibly promising up-and-coming singer/songwriter from right here in Gloversville!
Luke is no stranger to The Glove Mainstage, having performed here since he was a kid. Luke performed at The Glove last January — and received such a great response, we asked him to come back!!!
High Vibrations Media said this about Luke’s last Glove show:
“Luke Pavlus delivered an unforgettable performance at The Glove Theatre in Gloversville, New York. As a hometown artist, watching Luke take the big stage in front of friends, family, and an adoring crowd was nothing short of magical. The most heartwarming part of the night? Hearing his father proudly cheering him on throughout the show—it was a beautiful, uplifting moment that made the entire evening feel extra special.
Luke is a true triple threat: a gifted songwriter, a powerful vocalist, and an exceptionally talented guitarist. But what makes him truly captivating is his infectious energy and charisma. His smile alone could light up even the darkest room, and it was clear he was in his element, sharing his passion for music with the audience.
The setlist was simply phenomenal. Luke showcased his versatility, seamlessly transitioning between acoustic and electric guitars. A standout moment for me was his incredible rendition of REO Speedwagon’s Don’t Let Him Go, complete with live looping on the acoustic—an absolute treat for an REO fan like me. He even snuck in a bit of Steely Dan, in yet another touching moment when he performed a bit of Peg and sang about his big debut, and let me tell you, Luke, it looked so good on you.
His original songs, like Gloomy Day and Dandelion Girl—the latter written for his beautiful girlfriend (sorry, ladies, he’s taken!)—highlighted his incredible songwriting talent and ability to connect deeply with his audience.
The entire evening was a testament to Luke’s artistry and radiant personality. Watching him on stage was an absolute joy, and he made everyone in that room incredibly proud. If you get the chance to see Luke Pavlus perform now, don’t miss it—because it won’t be long before he’s selling out arenas.”
We agree with Penny — Luke is going places — and we are so happy to have him perform at The Glove! Be sure to catch this show!

THE ALEC LEWIS GROUP
SAVE THE DATE! The 518 Concert series has a treat for you — The Alec Lewis Group!
The ALG sports a fresh mix of contemporary funk influences from Cory Wong to Kruangbin, fused with guitar-driven classic rock and blues elements drawn from the likes of Dire Straits and David Gilmour, all topped with a modern pop sensibility and vocal stylings that firmly root the group and its sonic blueprint in our modern musical DNA.
According to front man, Alec Lewis in a recent An Xperience Interview – by Liam Sweeny: “Our influences are fairly specific. And I frequently reference these influences as a sort of north star for our band while writing new material. I find that this helps maintain a consistency across our music and gives our repertoire a succinct and identifiable blueprint. I have three main inspirations musically for this band: Cory Wong and the Vulfpeck universe, Dire Straits, and Steely Dan (likely in that order). I believe our music certainly is an extension of these artists. We have high energy funk grooves inspired by Cory Wong, Vulpeck and The Fearless Flyers. We have mid tempo, minor key bluesy tunes that I aim to remind people of Mark Knopfler with his kind of finger picking style. And I think the Steely Dan influence is not so direct in our music, sonically, but I don’t think people are surprised by the fact that Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands.
We are a relatively new band, having played our very first show in February 2024. And we are releasing our first studio project very soon on 2/7/2025. It will be a four song EP titled Don’t Cross Me. Being a sound engineer myself, I take recording very seriously. I have music under my own name as a “solo artist,” this will be the first official release of The Alec Lewis Group as a band and separate project. And rightfully so this was a big group effort. Drums recorded at The Jive Hive and built up from there at my home studio. Myself and Noah worked throughout the summer and fall of this year honing in the guitar and bass parts. It is a guitar record. It is tight. It is punchy and catchy. It’s sarcastic and quirky. It’s fun and I think you’ll agree, so please give us listen come 2/7 and search for The Alec Lewis Group wherever you stream your music.”

The Glove Education Series Presents: The Rise & Fall of the Borscht Belt
The Glove Education Series continues with a FREE screening of the documentary The Rise & Fall of the Borscht Belt.
The Borscht Belt is the name for a section of the Catskill Mountains in Sullivan and Ulster Counties. Starting in the 1920s, it became a summer retreat and sanctuary for millions of Jews escaping from American anti-Semitism. From the 1950s through the 1980s, this sprawling region of bed and breakfast farmhouses, bungalow colonies, and resort hotels numbered in the hundreds and drew people from all over the Eastern Seaboard. The Borscht Belt was famed for its social scene, epic food spreads, and its entertainment. The Borscht Belt was the launching pad for iconic stand-up comics such as Rodney Dangerfield, Joan Rivers, Alan King, Billy Crystal, and Jerry Seinfeld.
Following the screening, we will have a Q&A moderated by Glove Theatre Board Member Aaron Enfield. He will discuss the history of the Borscht Belt with Jay Blotcher of the Borscht Belt Museum in Ellenville, New York.
Runtime: 1h 21m
This film has been “Approved” by the MPAA.
BACK TO THE GARDEN 1969 - The Woodstock Experience
The Glove Theatre is proud to present Back to the Garden (BTTG) 1969 - The Woodstock Experience!
The Woodstock Music Festival was the ultimate rock concert, a celebration of peace, love and music. More than fifty years later, BTTG brings you back to the music and that weekend.
Formed by Gary Adamson in 2009, this is a group of versatile musicians and singers who have come together to celebrate the music, and the spirit of the Woodstock Era.
BTTG 1969 recreates the classic sounds associated with Woodstock. The musical performances are a tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great, including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, Sly &The Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, The Who, Mountain, Richie Havens, Melanie, Arlo Guthrie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Grateful Dead, Country Joe & The Fish,…and more!
BTTG 1969 brings you a full multimedia theatrical event, recreating the Woodstock Experience through period costuming, lighting, video, and sound bites. Storytelling also enhances the mood, with tales of the festival, the legendary artists who performed, and the backdrop of the tumultuous decade of the 60’s.
Not your typical tribute band! Most tribute bands perform the music of only one artist. BTTG 1969 is a tribute to a very special moment in time, and to the many artists whose music will forever be known as “Classic Rock.” From nostalgic Baby Boomers to intrigued Gen Z'ers, and all those in between, there is something in this show for EVERYONE!
So, grab your tie dye and love beads...and celebrate Woodstock with us at The Glove!

The 518 Concert Series Presents: Neon Avenue
The Glove Theatre's 518 Concert Series is looking forward to presenting Neon Avenue!!!
Born from the depths of the 2020 Pandemic, this group of Capital Region musicians came together for what felt like necessity. With the stalling of the music industry, a creative outlet was needed for these 5 individuals. What was first a casual get together playing some dead tunes quickly escalated into a singular goal of putting together a live stream. Something special happened during these early sessions and a “one-and-done” livestream turned into something much more.
In less than 2 years as a band, Neon Avenue has made quite a stir in the ever popular (and saturated) Gratefully-inspired tribute scene, growing quickly to become one of the bigger draws in the Upstate NY capital region Dead scene. The band brings a fresh take on the Grateful music that you know and love while placing an emphasis on improvisation, unique setlist construction, deeper cuts into the grateful songbook and a primal energy that they draw from their loyal fans during live performances. With past performances at Lark Hall, Putnam Place, Unihog, Rustic Barn and many other headlining shows around the Capital region, the word has gotten out about this band. Composed of veteran musicians from numerous local groups like Formula 5, Slipknot! (80's/90's Dead tribute), Stone Revival Band, Knot Dead, Jocamo, and more, this combination of players has set out to push the boundaries of the standard Dead tribute.
The group of Joe Davis (Formula 5), Mike Urbon (Knot Dead), Mike Cassels (Stone Revival Band, Jocamo, Knot Dead), Mike McDonald (Formula 5, Knot Dead) and Doug Klein (Slipknot, Robanic, Knot Dead) were re-inspired playing the music of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Ratdog, and others. While existing in an endless sea of 1970's era Grateful Dead tributes, this group strives to separate itself with a dedication to unique arrangements of setlists and song segues, utilizing extended improvisation, playing deeper cuts from all eras of the Dead, JGB, and Ratdog songbook.
Playing music of The Dead -- but Different! Come ready to dance -- the dance floor will be open!

For this show, “The Boys” will be joined by Glove favorite, Sara Milonovich, on fiddle and backing vocals.
Jim spent three decades repositioning bluegrass for contemporary fans who enjoy a broad pallet of Americana influences in their music. Thrice winner of Bluegrass Band of the Year for 2022, 2023 and 2024 at the New York Capital District Eddies Awards. They’ve enjoyed standing ovations at festivals across the country including four International Bluegrass Music Association festivals of the year: Wintergrass in Seattle; Joe Val in Boston; Podunk in Hartford, Grey Fox in Oak Hill, New York; plus the IBMA’s Bluegrass Ramble in Raleigh, NC.
The late Lena Spencer of Caffe Lena, the renowned Saratoga coffee house that hosted Bob Dylan in 1960, encouraged Jim to write his own music after he performed his version of Lefty Frizzel’s “Long Black Veil” more than three decades ago at the coffeehouse. Six albums of original music later, Jim and his Railroad Boys still play at Caffe Lena.

Free Family-Friendly Matinées Presents: Follow the Drinking Gourd: A Celebration of the Underground Railroad
The Glove’s annual Free Family-Friendly Matinée Series partners with the Fulton County Museum and I Can Breathe & I Will Speak to present a very special program in celebration of Black History Month!
Follow the Drinkin’ Gourd is a celebration of the history and songs of the Underground Railroad, which led scores of slaves to freedom in the mid 19th century. Join us to learn authentic spirituals such as “Follow the Drinkin’ Gourd”, “Go Down, Moses”, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and more as you take a ride up the railroad with an informative slideshow and historical presentation led by Fulton County Historian, Samantha Hall-Saladino, and I Can Breathe & I Will Speak Leader and Chairwoman, LaShawn Hawkins. Celebrate the history of freedom in song with us!
