The Glove Theatre, The Glove City Coalition, and Trust Your Gut Productions are producing an open-ended theatre production, “Prevention in Act-ion”, featuring the play, Prescription for Disaster, which focuses on engendering discussion about mental health and opioid use within our community.
Originally presented in July of 2023, Prescription for Disaster was met with praise from mental health and education specialists for its ability to bring light to and spark discussion around this important discussion. Prescription… follows the Yale Open-Ended Theatre model of theatrical performance, which presents a consistent beginning and middle of the story, leading up to a decision the characters must make. At that point, the performance is halted, and the audience discusses possible outcomes and votes on one of three pre-rehearsed endings, which the actors present immediately following the vote. Depending on time allowances, the cast may lead a second discussion and present another of the endings.
The GCC, Glove Theatre, and TYGP are looking to re-launch the production in September of 2024 for a possible scholastic tour in 2025 to schools, community centers, and more.
